Boarding Student Experience
Find your place at Foxcroft.
Girls from across the country and the globe come to Foxcroft as boarding students, finding a welcoming and unique community in the countryside of Virginia. Our residential facilities provide students with everything they need, whether that is a space of their own in the dorm, a common area to host a club activity, a Dining Hall to break bread together, or an uncommonly beautiful campus to walk with friends.
I made friends with all kinds of people from all around the world and constantly learned more about different cultures, sometimes without even realizing it. I value the experience of learning and living in this community.Anna Y., Class of 2023
Boarding Student Highlights
Boarding students at Foxcroft experience an intentional residential life program that emphasizes building life skills, independence, and connections with the community.
Home Away from Home
When you ask Foxcroft students, alumnae, and employees about what makes the school so special, the resounding answer is always “community.” Living away from home can be a new experience for boarding students, but the welcoming and supportive environment at Foxcroft helps New Girls in the transition.
Convenient Travel Options
Foxcroft’s campus is only 43 miles from Washington, DC, making it closeby to several airports and train stations:
- Dulles International Airport (IAD): 45 minutes away
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): 1 hour 10 minutes away
- Union Station: 1 hour 20 minutes away
- Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI): 1 hour 50 minutes away
At long breaks and vacations, Foxcroft organizes school transportation to or from many of these spots, and families can also arrange transportation through local private driving services.
Diverse Dorm Communities
Boarding students have roommates from across the globe — or maybe just down the road! Boarding students, day students, and international students all share space across our dorms, with all ninth graders living together in Reynolds Dorm.
Residential Faculty Support
Each dorm has dedicated faculty assigned to the team of adults that supervise the dorm on evenings and weekends. Boarding students can find their dorm parents to help resolve issues or just to have a chat. Dorm parents often plan fun events within the dorm on quiet weekends, such as self-care night in the lounge or Switch game nights!
Fun Weekend Activities
The Office of Student Life coordinates weekend activities ranging from shopping trips to excursions to Washington, DC and Baltimore's Inner Harbor. A student-led Activities Committee helps come up with fun plans, and clubs also host events like movie nights, crafts, and more. There is never a shortage of fun on the weekends at Foxcroft!
Meals in the Dining Hall
Boarding students can eat three meals a day at the Dining Hall, with delicious options that appeal to a variety of appetites. Convenient meals on weekdays allow students to prioritize their academic and co-curricular commitments, while weekend meals bring the community together with nutritious and fun options like MYO waffle station, omelet bars, and treats with dinner.
Support & Resources
Our dedicated faculty and staff are available to all students. Our Health Center is staffed by nurses 24/7, including weekends, so students can get care and attention no matter the hour.
